INSTRUCTIONAL
This class is designed to develop the fundamental skills and tactics required for advancement in jiu-jitsu. Each class begins with a brief warm-up and drills, followed by a specific “nage” or throw followed and then 2-3 specific jiu-jitsu techniques. At the end of each class, there is time reserved for free rolling or “randori”.

COMPETITION
The purpose of this class is to expose students to the physical demands required for competition and the ability to work through "negative" positions. Each class is broken into two distinct stages: fluid throwing and positional ground drills. Fluid throwing involves the application of throws learned during the Instructional Classes but in a more dynamic, continuous movement. Positional drilling is characterized by having students work a specified position, under a time limit and within a given set of parameters. It enables the development of both "match toughness" as well as a better understanding of the application of techniques under pressure.
